First, load this up on your hard drive in whatever directory you want to... (Note that there are 2 subdirectories under it in the zip file. Those must stay seperate...)
Next, set your background to the file called: framecaller.html. (You'll need to have active destkop enabled. To do that, go into your display settings, then to the Web tab, and check 'view my desktop as a web page'.)
Now, you should have a semifunctional active desktop going... You just need to make a few more addjustments and it'll be working perfectly.
Last, Open up framecaller.html in notepad and scan through it. You'll see paths, filename's, etc... Look for any path that doesn't match what you have on your hard drive. (So you'd probably need to change c:\win98\destop to c:\windows\desktop. And those two directories that came with the zip file, need to be in there to. You'll need to change their paths to match their new location on your hard drive.) Save and refresh... all should work right now.
(NOTE: To make this look right and work right, you need to go into your display properties, go under 'effects', and check 'Hide icons when the desktop is viewed as a web page.' This will turn your desktop icons off, but they're accessable through the framecaller.html.)
This thing will update every 15 minutes (if you want to change it, come see me... it's easy.) This is great for getting news, tech specs, keeping up on things... but it makes your internet usage go through the roof. (Since it's always running.) You can also call web pages from the little frames in each view frame. (But some don't work. Limitation of Explorer. I think I've overdone how many frames it was meant to handle.)
It also shows you some local and network DIRs. To change the background on these, right click in them and select 'customize this folder'. Select the 'choose a background option'. Go from there.
THAT'S IT! IT'S DONE! I hope you enjoy this thing. It takes a little getting used to (But I like it. And Bryant liked it.) Let me know what you think... suggestions welcome. Mail me.
