What is ZeroWing?  From what I have read, it's an old Sega game that was originally in Japanese.  And from what I have seen, it was poorly translated.  What does that mean?  Fun for us!  How?  Well...  What started as a mildly amusing intro to a game became a widespread, underground inside joke.  Don't believe me?  Check this out.  But you may want to take at least a quick look at what I've got here first.  Give it a chance, you'll either hate it or die laughing.  (Few people land in a gray area between.)  Let's check it out in a little more detail.  MAIN SCREEN TURN ON !!  CATS:  HA HA HA HA...

First, let me acquaint you with the infamous intro movie to the classic ZeroWing game.  This is an animated GIF derived from the original.  ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US !!

For those of you with some bandwidth to spare, you can download the MOV version complete with music and voice over.  (Well worth it...  Very funny.  The voice actors sound high.)  GET IT!  (About 1.5 MB.)  It goes a little fast, so here's the script...  Just for you, my friend.  SOMEBODY SET UP US THE BOMB !!

There has been some confusion about what the hell is going on in this intro so I'll do my best to get some clearupage posted.  The first screen is the captain's ship/station/base.  It gets bombed by the Cats.  The Cat appears and tells the captain that he's 'ON HIS WAY TO DESTRUCTION' and 'HAS NO CHANCE TO SURVIVE'.  And also says 'MAKE YOUR TIME' which I think translates to 'enjoy your last few seconds.'  Then the captain says 'TAKE OFF EVERY ZIG'.  ZIG = Nifty little green and gold ships that fly out of the captains ship/base/whatever it is.  Captain also says 'YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DOING' = 'You know what you're doing...  Avenge us...  for great justice.'  There...  Hopefully it all makes sense now.

Most people who are in on this conspiracy think this animation itself is funny enough, but it has spread well beyond that.  A lot of people have taken the liberty of using existing pictures and adding subtitles/dialog boxes from the animation.  The end result is incredibly stupid, yet insanely funny.  (If you're in to that sort of thing.)  I've made a few of my own, so here goes...  YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DOING !!

This thing has made its way around the net.  I've seen a headline on ArsTechnica that read 'All Your Hard Drive are Belong To Us !!'.  I've seen several articles/interviews/whatever that had a line or two from ZeroWing hidden in them.  It's become an inside joke for the underground of the internet.  (And I, for one, like being in on this sort of thing.)  So now you're educated about it a little more (hopefully.)  I'll post any new picts I do up here.  Thanks for indulging me.  Take off you 'ZIG'.
