No more job. And I thought it was time for an update of some
sort. My domain expires in approximately 2 months. Hope I
can get money to renew it before then. (I know. It's not
that expensive.) Let's see... Updates... Forums seem
to go in little spurts. I need to upload Jon Simon's cool song he
wrote. That's about it.

Do you wish to see clothe pin hair styles?
Forums no longer hoppin'. I have a job. :(

November 19, 2002
LAN Party has come and gone. Forums are hoppin'. (Not in
on that action? GET IN ON IT!) I've removed a few of the
older screen-shots to try to quicken this page's download time.
I've also updated that spiffy n.e.o. glass logo in the left
corner. Like it? Hi Kimball. Your shoe's untied.

November 5, 2002
The date has been set for our next LAN Party.

October 30, 2002
That's right, kids. It's time for another, small update.
We've got a new random pic, updated LAN-Party
section, and the Message
Boards are on fire. If you don't already have an account, just
whip one out real quick and join the fun. Thanks...

Updates coming a little more freak-went-lee now. What can I
say? I missed my web site. Added stuff to the LAN
Party page. Added context help to most links. (Try
it. Wave hold your mouse over one of the buttons up there.
If your browser supports it, you should see some little blurb.)
I've also added context help icons to a few places on the site.
They look like this.
Again, just hold your mouse over them. Changed the random picture
to. I've also added colored scroll bars for i.e. 5.5+. And
we have forums now,
guys! SO GET OFF YOUR FRIGGIN' CANS AND POST! Props to Jason
for setting up the initial forums for us.

Jon is special. Don't believe me? Check the LAN
Party page's Guest
List. And my brother, Dan, has been added to the invite
list. WOOT! I've also added a super
secret link to my site for requests and downloads.
|
|
October 15, 2002
Making up for lost time, I've added a LAN party page. This
one's for all my friends and I to use for planning and launching LAN
parties. I have even done something I haven't done since launching
this site. I've added a new link to to the link bar above.
Oooooh... Mouse over... So if anyone wants in on the next
party, check it out. Make sure the next party is to your liking
and that you're on the guest list.

October 14, 2002
Well well well. It's been down for months, but thanks to Jason
and his ISDN line, I'm back up. (Down with qwest. They are
the reason I went down in the first place.) So let's see...
I've gone through and updated everything, I think. Things in the
NetworkError household are good. We now have a living-room
computer. What can I say... You haven't missed much.
Hopefully, I won't be going down again any time soon. Peace...

July 29, 2002
You know, I really need to just make a "Screen Shot"
section. Later... Anyways. Some of my friends have
asked me "Tom, why do you have 3 monitors. It seems like
total overkill done by a poor pathetic geek with to much time on their
hands." To this I reply (after I choke back the tears)
"For 1337 gaming." Behold.

July 6, 2002
I have taken one Small Step for man, one Lite Step for
mankind. That's right, kids. I'm no longer using the
explorer shell. I'm using a modified 'core' theme from LiteStep.
If you're tired of using explorer, this is a fun alternative. If
you're patient and can deal with getting it all set up. (It's a
lot better than it was 2 years ago. And it's multi-monitor support
doesn't suck as bad as it used to.) Here's a screen shot for you.
Thumbnail
Screen
Shot
For those new to LiteStep, here's a quick
explanation. Your desktop icons, start bar, start menu,
etc... are all part of the Windows shell. The actual program
that displays all this is explorer.exe. (The same program you use
to manage files. Odd. Don't ask me why they did that.
It seems to cause more problems than good.) But you can easily
change to a different shell with just a few registry or ini
changes. LiteStep acts as a loading program for modules.
(Such as CPU monitors, Geek-Amp, Desktop accessibility, etc...)
The upshot of all this is that you can totally customize the look and
feel of your computer to just about anything. The downside is it's
developed by a bunch of geeks in various dark basements and offices
around the world, so support is questionable. When something
breaks, you're generally on your own to fix it. However, LiteStep
seems to be much better than it was back in 2000 when I last used it
heavily. If you decide to install it and play with it and you'd
like some pointers, just let me know. I've broken enough themes to
figure out how to work most of it. Peace. (Note: I'm
planning on changing my window colors. I had Window Blinds on here
but it was a hog.)

Happy belated 4th of July.
Is there anybody out there?

July 2, 2002
My wonderful wife purchases a 40x Plextor Burner for me on our anniversary.
YAY FOR ME! Now that's a woman. Any girl who'll buy you
hardware is a goddess. That's the gift that keeps on giving.
;)
I've finally gotten my web cam back up and
running. Check the 'about me' page to
see it. Or just click
here.
Well, kids. I had a small hardware adventure this morning and
I thought I'd share it with you. You see, yesterday my good friend
Gogyen came over (kin section for more on him), and we hooked his box,
Melkior, up so we could have an Unreal Tournament slam down. My
left monitor (a 15 inch Vivitron 1572 with a max resolution of
1280x1024) had been getting shorts in the video cable. I'd been
loosing my red signal fairly often so it took some rigging to get it
working on Melkior properly. Long story short. The cable
pretty much died. I could only get two of the 3 color signals to
connect at any time. (And that was with a lot of kinking.)
If I left the cable strait, it wouldn't get any signal. My first
thought was to break out a soldering iron and try to splice a new end
on. (That would have been some major surgery.) I had an epiphany
this morning. If I could only some how cram all the signal wires
together, I might be able to use this monitor till it burns out without
doing any splicing. Duct Tape wouldn't cut it. I'd need
something much stiffer. Behold the solution!

Bailing wire, my friends. It was the answer.
By hooking my mangled monitor cable to an extension cable, then
compressing them together, I got a nice clear signal. And it only
took 30 minutes and a hanger.

June 27, 2002:
Updated the Graphics page.
Added 3 new pictures to my PhotoShop
section.
Small update to the 'Kin' Page.
Tried to write Articles of Organization. Decided to call a lawyer
instead. ;)
|

June 19, 2002:
By, Jonas. Have fun in Arizona. Don't forget about your
friends up here.
Added the complete Sun Tzu: The Art of War.
Added the <Network Error> DnD Character Sheet to my 'about me'
section.
Lots of updates to the 'Kin' Page.
Sassar Dao! Hurray Hurray!
|
|
June 1, 2002:
I've added quite a few graphics to the PhotoShop
section. And I retouched my old Lain
graphic heavily. The Kin section has been modified quite a
bit. I've filled in all the pictures that were missing...
WITH MONKEYS! If you think you're in there, check it out. I also put up a small listing of my favorite
cheap tricks for multi-player Jedi Knight II.
Not much else going on... Jonas may be
adding his web site to my server soon. TaoLung still hasn't put
anything on his web site... All well. Peace.

May 15, 2002:
Well... It's been a while. I thought it was time for an
update. I updated the following pages today: About
me, Hardware, My Photoshop
Section, and my Web Journal. What
else... DSVP will be hosted off this server. It's been busy
so updates aren't coming very often. So sorry. And the tech
articles will be here eventually... Really. I'll have my web
cam up soon. That's all for today, kids.

|
April 18, 2002:
Added Jon's Photoshop Gallery.
Redid the Graphics page. Did a dance
of joy. Screamed at IBM on the phone. The end.

April 17, 2002:
Let there be wind. NEO's down right now. So is most of
Salt Lake City. A wind storm came through and knocked over all the
power lines. It blew a Semi off the road by my house. But
hopefully things will be back up soon so you can see this post.
If you've been here before, you might notice I've redecorated.
I wasn't satisfied with a site that I only ranked as a 6 on a scale of
1-10. This one's closer to an 8 or a 9. So now I'm
happy. All the content is still here. I've updated the webjournal,
about me, and reformatted a few other pages.
<muse>Odd. It took almost a year to go from
NetworkError.org v1.x to v2.0. It took only 16 days to go from
v2.0 to v3.0. Comments welcome.</muse>

April 10, 2002:
The last few weeks were not good for computer-kind. I had two
hard drives die. (Two of my 4 IBM Desk-stars in Balthazar.
DOH!) Thaumatergist's router machine's Hard Drive died.
Glemtar's computer is all messed up. Flame Kitten's was blue
screening quite often. (Driver issue.) And Sharon's modem
appears to be fried. Or maybe I'm just bad luck. Anyway...
That's the reason for the delay in this update. My computer is
down. I'm using Flame Kitten's. The migration is paused
until I can get mine back up and running. Peace.
|
April 2, 2002:
Fixed a formatting bug in the title bar. (Doing tables in
Front Page sucks sometimes...) Added 'About Us' and 'Contact'
buttons. Updated web journal. Sacrificed a small, bag of
Doritos to the Microsoft Gods.
|
April 1, 2002:
It's up! NetworkError.org Version 2.0 is now up and
operational. And it's about time. The old page was so
high-schoolish and getting quite stagnant. NetworkError.org once
again has a bright future.

March 29, 2002:
Began construction on this web page.
